I know, I know... You must have all these questions! Who is the IAA? What on Earth is a palimpsest? and Why the heck should I care?
Well, let me answer these for you...
Who is the IAA?
We're a group of artists from around the globe who met last March in an online course on how to sell art online. This was a year into the pandemic, when people had lost jobs and artists were scrambling to make art sales.
When the course ended, we realized we had a special connection and didn't want to let it fizzle out... So we decided to put on a group show!
But we wanted to do something other than having each of us simply bring two or three paintings to a gallery to be exhibited. We wanted to get involved in a working project together, something that would challenge our creativity and either prove or disprove the theory "if we all get along so well on a personal level, would our artistic styles also be compatible?" So we put ourselves to the test and started the pilot phase of our project.
During one of our meetings, we decided we needed a name for our group. We wanted the name to be something that would allow us and our project to be taken seriously. Hence "International Art Alliance" (or IAA).
Sounds pretty high-brow, doesn’t it? Well, it is! And it isn’t. That is to say, we take our project seriously but we don't take ourselves too seriously, which is probably one of the reasons we get along so well.
We’re all very excited about this and have put a lot of work into it. It’s a long-term project that will culminate in a physical exhibition, and we would love for you to follow along and witness its transformation!
Curious? Please watch our broadcast on Thursdays at 3:30 pm on Facebook. We’ve invited some great guest interviewers (!) to some of these, and look forward to some “artful” conversation.
The International Art Alliance is:
Uses Botanical components from the environment to create art that reflects the fundamental human instinct to connect through Nature's healing energies.
Strives to capture the electric energy of performers in her paintings.
